Following the fiasco of Abi crying her way out of the KU Union childcare photo, Priscilla thought carefully about how to handle this situation at Blackfriars. Abi was brought to the centre half an hour before the photo time 10am, Pascale came too and they waited with the other Wattle Room children on the singing mat. When time came to go outside to the waiting area, Abi didn't want to participate in the singing etc. Priscilla handed her to Meg one of the carers who gave Abi a cuddle and sat with her.
Then Priscilla fed Pascale morning tea from lunch box to let Abi get used to being with the children. When photo time came, Priscilla remained out of sight and let Abi go with the others, and holding onto Meg. The photographer took a group photo of the entire centre, including babies - what a co-ordination masterpiece! Abi was happy after the photo was over, apparently a red feather duster was used to amuse the kids. Meg had to hold Abi during the photo.
Afterwards the kids were allowed to play in the sand pit - with water! Abi and Pascale enjoyed about half an hour of this before they obediently went to wash their hands in the bathroom and then went home for lunch on the deck.
