Abi was so excited at the news that she was to stay at Yee Ma's place overnight that she got herself ready to leave the house without the usual drama.
We went to the UTS Rowers' Retreat for dinner. Abi ordered a burger, and while waiting for it to arrive she copied the word burger onto a piece of paper. She went onto the deck facing the water to see the night time lights of the Iron Cove Bridge. Leichhardt oval, La Montage reception centre. Then she only ate the chips on the burger dish, and drank orange juice.
She was busy looking at all the people around us, as well as the view of lights over the water. Occasionally she would look to the bar where there was a tv on, showing the horse trotting races from somewhere. She said "Look, there are donkeys running!" She looked curiously at the poker machines but Priscilla explained that children are not allowed in that area so we stayed at the edge of the carpet.
